The doctors utilize various chiropractic techniques to adjust the spine suitable for a wide range of people from pregnant women, babies, and children to athletes and senior citizens. The types of adjusting include:
- Manual adjusting (using the hands and nothing else)
- Drop Table Adjusting,
- Flexion-Distraction Technique
- Activator Adjusting
- Chiropractic BioPhysics
- Motion Palpation Technique
Generally they will perform soft tissue massage and myofascial release (employing Graston tool assisted technique, Active Release (ART) and others) to prepare the joint for a manual adjustment. The combination of the Soft tissue work with the adjustment makes the treatment extremely effective and long lasting.
Rehabilitation and Corrective Exercises
Regaining strength and developing proper biomechanical function of joints and muscles is imperative to recovering and regaining health. The doctor will teach each patient effective exercises designed to rehabilitate their injuries and to develop core strength and flexibility.
Working to correct posture and other dysfunctional movement patterns that the body may have adopted over time is essential for long term results.
Health is only as good as the foundation it is built upon. Proper nutrition is an enormously important part of that foundation. The doctor provides specific recommendations on nutritional supplements and healthy food choices for our patients individual needs; ranging from injury repair, weight loss, liver detoxification to preventative care and more. We also work closely with a Nutritionist and Registered Dietician when a more in-depth consultation is indicated.
Body Composition Analysis
Using a Bio-Impedence Analysis Machine (BIA) we can quickly and painlessly assess the tissue and fluid compartments of the body to determine: the overall health of a patient’s cells, if a patient has a toxicity issue in their cells; hydration level of the patient; basal metabolic rate; and percent body fat. This is an excellent way of objectively keeping track of progress in treatment.
Dr. Kinneavy is Certified in the Webster Technique. This technique is used in the case of a Breech presentation on a pregnant woman. This extremely gentle approach helps the baby to flip into the proper position. It is based on the idea that the uterus is attached to the sacrum (a bone in the pelvis). When the sacrum is rotated out of position the uterus shape twists, making it difficult for the baby to invert as it normally would toward the end of pregnancy. Simply by fixing the sacral position, the uterus is released and the baby is able to get into the proper position for birth.
